Dog owners and walkers have been urged to make sure their animals are under control and supervised at all times following complaints of animals causing a nuisance at Les Amarreurs and fouling the popular area, which also has a public playground for children.

Owners of properties with hedges or streams are being reminded that the deadline for cutting and cleaning them is the end of the month and that inspections will start immediately after the 30th. Official notices have been published by the States Trading Supervisory Board, acting as Central Streams Committee, to give notice of this.

A proposal by Guernsey Electricity Ltd to permanently close Hougue Jehannet, the road running through the middle of its Vale premises, might find more favour if the utility was prepared to discuss with parishioners ways of mitigating the loss of access, the Senior Constable has suggested.

Taxpayer money may be used to help speed up the regeneration of the Bridge area by facilitating the redevelopment of the long-derelict Leale's Yard area. Policy & Resources Committee said this afternoon that it expects to be able to ask the States to enter into an agreement to buy newly constructed homes on part of the site as an investment.

Vale Junior Constable Bill Cohu has asked parishioners not to blame the douzaine for the number of overgrown roadsides and verges that are affecting the parish – because they don't have the powers to enforce a proper tidy-up.
