Delays to replacing the safety ground covering under the play equipment was caused last year by bad weather and the contractors experiencing difficulties getting to the island as planned.
However, Richard Leale told the Guernsey Press that the £25,000 project should finally be completed this summer.
The work, which will make the area safer for children to use, has been difficult to organise because there is no one locally qualified to lay the impact-absorbing material, which looks like rubber asphalt.
Mr Leale stressed that the area was currently safe to use but the new covering would be an improvement.
A date for the work to start has still to be agreed but is expected to be this summer. The playground will have to close when it is carried out.
