'Last field' planning application to be considered by Douzaine

Sat 10 Jun 2023

The Vale Douzaine is to discuss later this month an application to build four new homes on what is said to be the last remaining green field on the northern side of Braye Road.

This follows an application by developers the Infinity Group which residents say will take out the last open space in the area near Carrier Lane.

Mother and daughter Wendy and Laura Smith live at neighbouring Braye Farm and say their view will be completely obscured if one of two developments submitted for the area goes ahead.

The issue was reported in the Guernsey Press today, which quoted Vale Senior Constable Richard Leale saying that the douzaine would consider the matter at its next meeting at the end of the month.

Speaking personally, he wasn't keen on the proposals.

"It’s ribbon development again," he said. "There will be no green spaces on that side of the road from Bailloterie Lane until Bordeaux. It’s not good."
